AFDO CONFERENCE 2008- Telstra Dome Melbourne, 9 - 10 October 2008

In October 2008 we will be holding our inaugral national conference "Policy About Us, For Us! A Practical Revolution in Lives of People with Disabilities". The conference will be held on the 9th and 10th October at Telstra Dome in Melbourne. 

This, our first AFDO national conference will have a definite focus on the future policy direction for people with disabilities in Australia. AFDO is the national peak body representing people living with all aspects of disability. Our conference will draw on current trends within the disability sector and identify strategies of how to influence the Federal Government on Policy direction in all aspects of life for people with disabilities. Particualr areas of focus that are to be covered at the conference will be: Human Rights, UN Convention on the Rights for People with Disability: Active Citizenship; People with Disabilities in the Community; People with Disabilities and Employment; Funding Options & Service Delivery. 

International, national and local speakers will and are being asked to present at the conference. Many of the speakers are people living with a disability. All speakers will be asked to have a practical dimension to their presentation with each person being expected to have at least three key recommendations for a practical way forward in policy direction. All recommendations will be compiled and presented to government after the conference.

The Trade Exhibition

The Trade Exhibition displays will consist of the following:

  • Exposure throughout the conference to key industry decision makers.

CANCELLATION & REFUNDS: Cancellations received in writing by The Hotel Network by 8th August 2008, will be accepted and fees refunded less a $55 administration fee. Substitute participants are welcome

Cancellation of accommodation must be made in writing directly to The Hotel Network. Cancellation of accommodation made after 5th September 2008 may attract the full stay's tariff. Transfer of accommodation booking to another person will be accepted
